Whenever something eerily coincidental happens, my dad blames “The Boy,” his version of an omniscient figure playing humans like a video game. This has led me to imagine what a higher power might look like, if one exists. I often find myself envisioning different versions of a godly being, inspired by my dad’s playful concept. This painting explores one possibility, where we’re all marionettes controlled by a powerful force pulling the strings. I recreated a forest scene, transforming animals into origami sculptures to reflect the artificiality of this imagined world. The peachy pink background hints at a sunset that isn’t quite natural, suggesting that in this reality, everything is slightly contrived.
