Billions of organisms walk this earth, each step shaping our environment. After visiting Arizona’s Antelope Canyon, I was surprised by the seemingly hand-sculpted curves of the sedimentary walls, and was even more shocked upon learning that the canyon is a product of years of antelope migration. This piece depicts a herd of ghostly antelope running through the canyon, portraying how these creatures live on in the legacy they leave behind with the changing shape of each rock. This painting was an opportunity for me to experiment with the relationship between warm and cool lighting, using the blue tones to create a sense of magic and spiritual power, contrasting the warmer colors of the canyon’s surface. Nature is the world's most perfect artist, and a force to be reckoned with.
