This bird sculpture was created using various computer hardware parts and other miscellaneous technological waste. I dismantled old laptops, taking their keyboards, motherboards, SD cards, RAMs, SSDs, CPUs, and plastic casing, learning to identify these components in the process. To make the iridescent wings of the bird, I found old CDs and cut them into shapes resembling bird feathers. Then, I layered the CD shards on top of each other until the desired effect was reached. This piece challenged me to utilize manmade, geometric materials to honor the organic, beautiful anatomy of nature’s creatures.
